Mobigloo’s Fast Food Calorie Counter is a boon for anybody who finds themselves eating at fast food restaurants and wants to know the nutritional information on the menu. It may seem odd a first to create a program for calorie counters to go to fast food restaurants but it does help you find the healthiest food available from select chains. I found it very useful at Starbucks when it came to finding out what really is in a frappuccino. Currently they have over 3,000 menu options at over 29 fast food chains. They do not provide a listing but we will try to include one below. Right now they provide the Calories, Fat, Carbs, Fiber, & Protein for every menu item. The software is amazingly fast for searching this large a database and has a wonderful search as you type engine. Check out the review after the jump for more details.

Installation: The install can be done both OTA and through the desktop manager. The install file is around 300K so make sure you have that much free space. Both installs worked quite quickly for such a large file.

Interface: Once you install you will have a new icon on your home screen that looks like a hamburger. An interesting choice for a health conscious program. Once you click on the icon you will be presented with the loading screen above. Every time you start the program it takes about 10 seconds to load the nutrition database. Personally I think this is fair since the speed of the program once it starts up is amazing.

The next thing that loads up in the main menu as you can see above. This is reminiscent of the home screen with icons that you scroll over to select a restaurant. I have included a listing of the current restaurants below. In the trial you will have access to 3 of the 29 restaurant menus.

Restaurants included:

  1. Arby’s
  2. Boston Market
  3. Burger King
  4. Carls Jr.
  5. Chick-fil-A
  6. Church’s Chicken
  7. Dairy Queen
  8. Domino’s Pizza
  9. Dunkin Donuts
  10. Hardee’s
  11. In-N-Out
  12. Jack In The Box
  13. KFC
  14. Little Caesars Pizza
  15. Long John Silvers
  16. McDonald’s
  17. Panda Express
  18. Papa Johns Pizza
  19. Pizza Hut
  20. Popeye’s
  21. Sbarro
  22. Schlotzky’s

Once you click on a restaurants logo you will be taken to a listing of the menus at that restaurant. I have not had a chance to check the menus to see if they are accurate but I will give Mobigloo the benefit of the doubt on this one. Once you are in the menu it is automatically sorted by category. As you can see above if you hit the menu button you will also have the option to sort the menu by Category, Name, Calories, Fat, Carbs, Fiber, and Protein. The sorting is almost instant gratification which is amazingly quick.

My other favorite feature is the search as you type option on every menu. Once you start typing it will automatically narrow down the menu to the search results. This makes it easy to find what you are looking for in a menu of over 100 items.

Once you click on a menu item you will be shown the graph above with the nutritional information. The graph is a nice visualization of the information. Once you are in the menu item you can just scroll up and down to continue going through the search results.

Pros:

  • Fast searching
  • Nice visualizations
  • Good sorting options
  • Comprehensive information

Cons:

  • A bit slow on loading
  • Drinks and other side orders are not included

Conclusion: Mobigloo has a nice niche program on their hands. I will find the software very useful at airports and other locations where restaurant choices are limited and I want to know what to eat. The one thing I did feel would add to the program was the ability to compare to a customized daily calorie intake value. Even better would be the ability to add up your calorie intake for the day using the program. They also did not include all side orders such as coffee in the menus. Personally I am not much of a calorie counter myself but I found the ability to view the most nutritious menu items very usefull. Check out below for the full listing of restaurants included in the application. Also give the trial a shot if your interested to get a feel of the application.
